As the year winds down to a close, take a minute and think about all the things you have to be thankful for in 2017.
For some of you, it might be the fact that you’ve passed a major exam, and finally have some time and space to breathe easy. For others, you may have gotten married this year, or welcomed the arrival of your first child. And for yet others, you may have achieved that major goal you set yourself at the beginning of the year: publishing a peer-reviewed paper, or presenting at a conference, or being nominated to a position of leadership.
However your 2017 has been – whether it has been a rollercoaster or smooth-sailing - we invite you to take a moment to consider how you can make this holiday season a brighter and happier one for someone less fortunate.
The TTSH Community Fund supports nearly 2,500 patients every year, and donations to the fund go towards serving such diverse needs as community rehabilitation, diabetes care, HIV treatment, care for the elderly in the community, as well as nutritional support for patients and their families.
The residents and faculty of the NHG Internal Medicine Residency Programme have always prided ourselves on our commitment to the community we serve. Caring for our patients should go beyond the fleeting confines of hospital medicine, and we believe in reaching out to those who truly need a helping hand.
This Christmas, join us in bringing some joy and goodwill to patients and their families through a donation to the NHG IM Box of Smiles. Even a small contribution will go a long way towards our goal.
Together, we can all be thankful for one more thing this Christmas – of being able to truly make a difference in the lives of those we have promised to serve.
